At the recent Annual Meeting of the German Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (AGE) Assistant Professor Dr. Ivo Meinhold-Heerlein, Dr. A. Samuel Soyinka und Dr. Thoralf Schollmeyer were awarded the Hans Frangenheim Prize of the German society.

The prize was awarded for the article ”Enhancing Laparoscopic Performance with the LTS3E: A Computerized Hybrid Physical Reality Simulator “.  This paper deals with a computerized training simulator and its value in allowing trainee endoscopists to acquire and improve basic laparoscopic skills. The article has been accepted for publication in the journal “Fertility and Sterility“.
The work of the Kiel endoscopists was also recognized with the award of two certificates by the AGE.  One certificate granted the ”Kiel School“ the status of an AGE Training Centre, one of seven such centres in Germany.  In addition, both Dr. Schollmeyer, Head of the Kiel School, and his deputy, Assistant Professor Dr. Meinhold, were awarded the MIC III, the highest certificate bestowed by the AGE for minimal invasive surgery. The basis for such a certification is proof of a significant number of endoscopic operations at the highest level.
