Endo Compact course successful

Dr. Wurdak, Tuttlingen All participants successfully completed the specialised advanced training course “Endo Compact” from 3rd – 5th March 2008. The course focussed on presenting the current methods for hysterectomy (LAVH, TLH and LASH) by means of live surgical demonstrations.  A particular highlight of the course was the LAVH procedure performed by one of the pioneers of German endoscopy, Professor Neis from Saarbrücken.

In the practical sessions, the participants were able to implement on models and animal organs the new insights obtained in the live surgery sessions.  Intra and extracorporal knotting techniques were very much in demand.
Endometrium ablation with the NovaSure™ system (Cytyc Germany GmbH) was demonstrated as an alternative to hysterectomy.

Despite intensive training, time was also found to visit the university’s medical historical museum.  The pelvis collection of Michaelis and Litzmann aroused much interest.  We are very grateful to Mrs Eva Fuhry, director of the museum, for her “evening tour”.
