We successfully concluded our course year with a German-speaking standard training course from 28th - 30th November. The key topics were access techniques, safety-steps, adnexal surgery and operative hysteroscopy.
The second of three training courses in November was an English-speaking advanced training course, focusing on uterus myomatosus, hysterectomy, myomectomy and endometriosis. The 3½-day course began Monday afternoon with an intensive training in clinical anatomy in the Institute of Anatomy. This training session, held by Prof. Thilo Wedel, included an anatomical refresher course on the female pelvis, featuring a demonstration of anatomical specimens.
We are proud to announce that Dr. Ibrahim Alkatout, Head of the Kiel School of Gynaecological Endoscopy, has been awarded the MIC III certificate, the highest certificate bestowed by the German Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (AGE) for minimal invasive surgery. The basis for such a certification is proof of a significant number of endoscopic operations at the highest level.
After the summer break we began the second half of our training year with an International Training Course from 19th - 23rd September. This course was designed to offer participants from further afield the opportunity to undergo a five-day intensive training course in gynaecological endoscopic surgery. Sixteen participants from around the world took part in a comprehensive training programme to develop and improve their laparoscopic and hysteroscopic skills.
